In many homes, the kitchen is often a place of chaos — packed with dishes, dinner and hungry guests.
Imagine a kitchen created to transcend that commotion. Such a kitchen, designed using the Chinese energy-balancing system feng shui, is one of six home kitchens featured in the “Gourmet Foods and Designer Kitchens Tour” taking place Saturday, Oct. 5.
The tour includes homes in Pine Beach, Toms River and Island Heights and features gourmet food supplied by local chefs at each home.
Located in a Pine Beach home, the feng shui kitchen was designed to promote balance and harmony.
Yet the space is still perfect for entertaining, featuring a six-burner stove, drawer microwave and a beverage cooler that maintains three different temperatures for bottles placed inside. Granite from Italy adds a bit of elegance to the room.
Also featured on the tour is a kitchen at a Toms River home. It includes warm cherry cabinetry, a six-burner stove, double sink, wine cooler and a large island designed for preparing meals. Just outside is an impressive deck with gazebo and tiki bar.
The tour is presented by the White Pine Twig, a fundraising group with the Community Medical Center Foundation based in Toms River. All money raised goes toward Community Medical Center in Toms River.
